Product Requirements:
The product is a two‑shot automotive seat cover with a cosmetic appearance. The hard and soft materials are alternately molded on the front and back sides, resulting in a complex structure.
Product Overview:
The product materials are PC+ABS and TPS. Dimensions: 34 × 46 × 9 mm. The product is a visible cosmetic part. Due to the special nature of its structure, manufacturing it as a two‑shot mold is highly challenging.
Mold Solution:
To meet the product requirements, a detailed mold flow analysis was performed before mold manufacturing to determine the precise gate location, ensuring proper part warpage control and appearance. To address the special structural challenges, the mold design incorporated a unique mechanism based on the principle of a seesaw, as well as a design combining a core‑side slide with a cavity‑side insert. This perfectly resolved the issues associated with two‑shot molding of the part.
