Product Requirements:
The product is a medical ophthalmic component with a central hole diameter of 0.3 mm and a wall thickness of 0.25 mm.
Product Overview:
Material: HDPE. Dimensions: D3 × 31 mm. The part has thin walls and a very small through‑hole with tight tolerances. Ensuring that the fine hole is not off‑center is highly challenging. The mold has a 1 × 2 cavity configuration.

Mold Solution:
To meet the product requirements, detailed mold flow analysis was performed before mold manufacturing to determine the precise gate location, ensuring uniform filling and even force distribution on the core pins within the hole. To address the issue of the long, slender core pins being prone to deflection, the core pins were provided with a locating feature at the top of the through‑hole, and they were made of a special steel with a high modulus of elasticity to ensure high bending resistance. Combining these three aspects perfectly solved the problem of hole eccentricity.

Result Feedback:
The mold achieved mass production readiness at T1, and the customer is very satisfied.
